Cops bust point-and-click call-girl ring

In a marriage of the newest technology with the oldest profession, New Jersey State Police broke up a nationwide prostitution ring that let clients book a hooker with the click of a mouse. Two northern New Jersey men were arrested Tuesday and charged with operating a $1 million ring in which customers used the Internet to place orders for prostitutes, Sgt. Kevin Rehmann said. "You could book from anywhere in the country and have a prostitute come to your location," said Rehmann. "You could be in Chicago, and they`d fly a girl out to take care of you," said Rehmann. He added the ring also employed local prostitutes to serve clients where travel was not required. Joseph Haedrich, 56, of Bernards Township, and Frank Carlino, 66, of Allamuchy Township, have been charged with promoting prostitution, and conspiracy. Haedrich was being held in the Somerset County Jail, Somerset, on $20,000 bail. Carlino posted an unspecified bail and was released, Rehmann said. It was not immediately known how many women the ring employed, but Rehmann said they worked across the country, taking in as much as $1 million over the past year. Police raided the two men`s homes and a third location in Plainfield and seized computers and financial records. The investigation, which was assisted by the Somerset and Warren county prosecutor`s offices, is continuing, Rehmann said.
