Indy police seek 2nd suspected voyeur

For the second time in a week, Indianapolis police detectives are searching for a man suspected of peeping into the homes of Northside women. Detectives say Jonathan Beck, 31, spied on three people, including Hannah Arbuckle, a 28-year-old marketing specialist who gained national attention last week when she helped capture Robert J. Braun, 57, who police believe secretly watched and recorded her for a year. Detectives would not speculate on why two people would target one house, although they haven`t ruled out that it might just be a coincidence. The areas are highly traveled. Police say the most recent case involving Beck occurred around 2 a.m. Sept. 18, when a 26-year-old woman reported a man looking at her through the window of her home in the 500 block of Kessler Boulevard East Drive. On Wednesday, police released Beck`s photograph after they were unable to find him during separate searches. An arrest warrant was issued, and Beck faces a charge of residential entry, a Class D felony, and a misdemeanor voyeurism charge. Detectives say his act of opening a screen door constitutes making entry into the residence. Police say Beck has eight prior arrests on misdemeanor voyeurism charges since 1991. "We arrest him, he keeps coming back. We arrest him (again), he keeps coming back," said IPD Detective Steve Fippen. "He`s not getting the message. But it`s frustrating. He looks and leaves." Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 1-317-262-TIPS. Besides the September incident, Beck is facing charges in two other cases, including one in which he is accused of peeking into Arbuckle`s house on Dec. 16, 2002. Her house is not far from the residence he was reportedly seen at on Sept. 18. Arbuckle, who has cooperated with news agencies to get the word out about the dangers of peeping Toms, said she thinks it`s a "mere coincidence." But she added, "Who knows how many there are out there? And it`s not just an inconvenience, it`s an invasion of privacy." Beck`s attorney, Martin Solomon, said Beck plans to surrender this week or next. "My comment would be that Beck denies that he`s a voyeur and has filed a `notice of alibi` on one case that he wasn`t in the state of Indiana when a lady claims he was peeping. And he`s totally nonviolent. My impression is that he`s got a double out there."
