Porn Candidate Mary Carey Buys Ad Time on Leno

Porn actress and fringe gubernatorial candidate Mary Carey strips down to a string bikini in her one and only campaign TV ad, airing next Monday in Los Angeles during NBC`s "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." Carey`s spokesman, Steve Earnhart, said her campaign has paid $3,000 to air the 30-second spot just once on local station KNBC during one of Leno`s commercial breaks. The ad features Carey striking various provocative poses as she pledges to tax breast implants and legalize gay marriage if elected. She also promises to "stand up" for the adult entertainment industry and to "make sure everyone who files for unemployment gets jury duty," presumably a way to get them working again. Other campaign proposals she has made include plans to make lap dances a tax deductible business expense and to wire the governor`s mansion with live "Web-cams" to create a pay-Internet site as a new source of state revenue. The spot opens with Carey clad in a baggy orange outfit resembling a prison jumpsuit, which she quickly removes to reveal a skimpy bikini in a stars-and-stripes motif. Although just one of more than 130 candidates running to replace Gov. Gray Davis in the Oct. 7 recall election, Carey has grabbed considerable attention by virtue of her career as a porn actress and has proven to a tireless self-promoter. The buxom 23-year-old blonde, starring in such video titles as "New Wave Hookers" and "Grand Opening," received prominent exposure during a recent "Tonight Show" episode in which about 90 of the recall candidates appeared together. She also participated in the recent Game Show Network contest, "Who Wants to be Governor of California: The Debating Game," appearing with five other minor candidates, including former child star Gary Coleman.
